If you'd like a little deeper look into the box...

I'd recommend the book, Fortress Rochester: The Inside Story of the
IBM iSeries , by Dr. Frank G. Soltis the "Father" of the System/38 and
it's successor the AS/400.

Some of the specific hardware information is out of date, as the book
was written at the time of the POWER4 processors....but the hardware
behavior is much the same and the software side, OS & LIC, is
basically the same.

There's also an older book, Inside the AS/400, also by Dr. Soltis.
Most of the material in the old book is also in the new one.

Charles

Regarding the question ... The upgrade is required because we need both disk capacity and partitioning to different environments according to our dev procedures.

We also would like to start adding this equipment to our standard DR capabilities (remote copy, etc).

I would like also thank to all that answered ... I always heard that these are very interesting and elegant machines and this is my first opportunity to touch one ....
