I have a model 170 that has a failed cache battery. The RAID set is already showing in DEGRADED status.
I have obtained a replacement NiCd battery for the #2740 from Interstate Batteries.
Given that the battery is already in the failed state, is it safe simply to power the 170 off and replace the battery.
I've done this in the past and everything was okay. But I also remember having to use the BATTERYINFO macro to force a failed state.
Unfortunately, I can't seem to find my notes about the BATTERYINFO macro. This system is still at V5R1 to support some clients on old hardware so option 9 in the Hardware service manager isn't available to me.
Thanks, Scott
