Not sure what the issue with Qp0zPutEnv/Qp0zGetEnv would be. Maybe you have a bad prototype? Does the API return 0 when you call it? Or if not, are you checking errno?

But, I find myself wondering why you don't use the standard POSIX putenv/getenv APIs? Do you need to be able to set your CLASSPATH using different CCSIDs?
