Thanks everyone for the input. I had a sudden thought while brushing my
teeth last night, so here's what I'm trying.
I have created a dataq which I will attach to OUTQs as needed. This
means that each time a spool file is created in RDY status a record is
written to the dataq. I'm assuming that these spool files will print,
since the printers are left on overnight.
I have a short RPG program waiting on the dataq which takes the dataq
data and calls a bound CLLE program that uses the TAATOOL/RTVSPLFA
command to get me the usrdta, number of pages and number of copies.
I then write the info to a database file.
All my testing worked as expected. I had it waiting on an OUTQ in IT
this afternoon and added another OUTQ for overnight. We'll see how it
comes out tomorrow.

Our printing is decentralized. I'm trying to figure out what reports our
overnight batch jobs create and which ones actually print, with an eye
to eliminating unnecessary paper usage.
