Thanks for the suggestion. I have gone ahead and notified MCPress.

Kurt

I too have know MerriKay, and also Katie, who is the person who sits at the MCPress booth at COMMON and other shows.

I suggest that you contact them and ask THEM about this, it has been a reputable company over many years, and they should answer your questions.

I guess in general, I hope we don't broadcast our problems with vendors and all here, unless we have first gone to them, and then have not got a satisfactory conclusion.

Just sayin'!!

I suppose discussion of the ethical nature of purchasing leads is one that's been hashed out over the ages. No need to bog down here. Bryce is probably right, my email was purchased. That's the world we live in. However it still annoys me.

I have known Merrikay, who owns MCPress, for many years. She runs a business and does so in an efficient, professional, and *ethical* manner.
She would never harvest email addresses because (a) it would be unprofessional, and (b) she hates it when people do such things to her.

More likely it would be a case like Bryce describes. That is a viable way to grow the business and would be ethical.

My guess is that they bought your email from someone... do you subscribe to ANY trade rags or services through your personal email? Might be able to narrow down who's selling their userlists... I mean..."Sharing with 3rd party partners to offer you the best and greatest services of all time".

So everyone knows, I was only trying to make people aware of what
MCPress is doing. My personal email address isn't associated with
midrange.com in any way, so MCPress did not harvest the address from
midrange.com

Thanks,
Kurt

Folks:

If anyone suspects their email address has been harvested from a
