And when you read all the tales of woe on this forum, about losing
AS/400
to other platforms or throwing out iSeries, it becomes obvious that
there
is a clear trend. The people who come in to take charge, think the
platform is an AS/400 and tend to run away. The people who see the
platform as IBM i on Power, see it as modern, vital, and having a
future.
We need to convert the former to the latter, but the name crap
continues.
FORUM!! When did that happen? Can we go back to the mailing list; I do
not like forums as well as well as mailing lists. Unless you meant forum
as in://*"*a medium (as a newspaper or online service) of open
discussion or expression of ideas" then never mind.
Do you have any proof that if more people called it IBM i on power (or
whatever it was called when IBM changed the name) there would be one
more company using it? I think if you can prove that, you will get more
people supporting your position, then by calling us names. Until then I
am just going to nickname mine ..... what for it ...... F.R.E.D. what
did you think it was going to be AS400.
And if you think I just think it is a laughing matter, I am very
concerned about jobs in my area, I have gone back to school (could be
why I want proof, no professor would let me get away with just calling
him a name, and not backing up my claim with support evidence) . But if
I had to choose if the lack of jobs was because of what people call it,
IBM marketing it, or the economy, the name would not be my first choice.
