When you changed the mother board the xSeries service processors IP address changed which is configured in the service processor configuration on the iSeries < WRKNWSCFG TYPE(*SRVPRC) > .

You need to get into the BIOS to discover the IP address for the xSeries service processor and change the service processor configuration object on the iSeries.

You can also use a host name for the service processor but I am assuming that you used the IP address rather than a host name because you ran into this problem.

Documentation can be found at:
http://www-03.ibm.com/systems/i/advantages/integratedserver/iscsi/solution_guide.html

IBM iSeries software support can also help you through this issue.

Good Luck,

WRKDSKSTS on a guested partition does NOT show the same number of disks as

So I am trying to figure out what he is seeing.

Jerry:

Do I read into your comment that at least two of the three partitions
are hosted by IBM i? If that's so you can use WRKNWSSTG to determine
how much space is allocated to each partition. I jump to that
conclusion because that is the only way I am aware of that a WRKSYSSTS
command could show the storage for multiple partitions.

SST is certainly one way. Or in the O/S WRKDSKSTS gets you what you
need
also. And then WRKHDWRSC *STG will let you drill down the controllers
and
find the disk units as well. Normally you don't need to use SST if
you're
only after 'how many', 'what size', and 'what feature' (Meaning SAS -vs-
SCSI, RPM, etc.)

And of course WRKSYSSTS gets you the 50,000 ft flyover view of total
capacity and percent used if you don't care what type or protection of
the
disks.

Jerry,

Good luck with that!:-) Are you using VIOS for hosting your other
partitions? If so you can find out the disk mappings for that. (I won't
detail that here unless you reply affirmatively)

If not then you need to look in each partition with the traditional
tools there.

So do you have 36 physical disks - twelve on each partition of i, and one
i partition is running Domino?

If so, STRSST, 3. Work with disk units, 1. Display disk configuration, 1.
Display disk configuration status should have different serial numbers on
the disks based on which lpar you are looking at.

Some other interesting utilities are RTVDSKINF and PRTDSKINF *SYS. Systems
with Domino often have significant space in "User directories"

Charles,

In the remote system definitions (Use Ops Nav, and go under iSCSI) you tell it the serial number so it can identify which server to turn on/off, I wonder if this has changed? But your message said Service Processor, which is really something that you define when you are creating the iSCSI environment. Since you have three of these, you can probably just get into the tools and see how everything is defined.

I have set these up in the past at a few places, but I don't remember all the places you enter serial numbers and addresses off the top of my head.

Got a phone call from a small company I used to work for and still do some development work for...

They have a couple of Windows servers attached to there 520(?) via iSCSI.

One of the servers had a failure, IBM came out and replaced the MB, but when they powered up the server they are seeing an error about the Service Processor address not being right (or something like that)....

The IBM tech didn't know what to do and simply left?!?

I didn't set up the hardware, nor do I have know much about the iSCSI attached stuff. They are trying to contact the BP from whom the bought the hardware and whom they paid to set it up.

In the meantime, thought I'd throw this message out here to see if anybody had any experience or knew of links to documentation from IBM on how to recover..

PM me if you're interested in contacting the company directly, I'd image that a reasonable fee for your services could be arranged.

Thanks!

Hello list.

Does a spool file have to be *AFPDS in order for an AFP overlay to print?
Seems to me that I recall being able to print an AFP overlay on an *SCS
spool file, but it is not working for me now on my V5R4 system. I have an
HP1320 connected through iSeries Access. I have host print transform
active, but I'm just getting the spool file output and the overlay is
being dropped. When I convert that same spool file to PDF (using our own
software) the overlay shows up in the PDF.
