Our base order entry package is written in (please be kind) RPG II for 36E.
I wrote a new function for the company that, while written in RPG IV and CL,
still uses the original RPG II programs and OCL to print the orders.
The process is submitted via the WRKJOBSCDE to startg at 0700 and end at
about 1300. For the most part it is just setting idle in QBATCH waking up
every 15 minutes to see if there is anything else to process.
We put this on live this morning and seems to be working fine. The only
thing that I noticed, which I guess I just didn't look for during testing,
is that the picking ticket files (Header, Ship to, and Lines) are open when
I use WRKACTJOB to view the job.
I ran another order through our manual process, and it went through okay
(printed, updated files, etc.) I close all of my files and tables in the
RPG IV program, but these files are opened by the OCL/RPG II process. Any
idea if this could cause an issue; anything that I need to look out for or
correct? I can't close the files (which are in the default activation
group, by the way) - or can I?
Thanks.
