Dave,

You have not supplied enough information. Are you adding new records
(insert) or changing existing records (Update)?

Is the new field new to the file? Not sure what you need.

Hi all,

Having trouble with the syntax of a simple insert.

I want to copy fileA to fileB after fileB has been modified so the first
field is a new field. I want to put the same value into each row of the new
field.

Something like :

Insert into fileB
Select 'Constant', fileB.* from fileB

Can someone put me right?
Thanks
