IIRC, what you are stating below is accurate for a default OVRPRTF FRONTMGN.
But, once the OVRPRTF FRONTMGN(*DEVD) is used, then the overlay appears to uncouple from the text for that run only.
The overlay can be controlled with the ovrprtf FRONTOVL(overlayName .2 .1) .
Any idea how to control the text margin? As soon as I use OVRPRTF FRONTMGN(*DEVD), it appears I have lost control of the text margin.
I am using a program-described printer file.
Maybe if I make it an externally described printer file, then I can control the text margin again??
Is it possible to control the text margin in a program-described printer file?

IIRC, the overlay has an offset and the text has a margin. The overlay offset moves relative to the text margin-- the overlay starts at the position of the text margin. You add them together to see where the overlay starts.
