I have an old COBOL (OPM) screen pgm which needs to have an internal array sorted.
Will the COBOL "SORT" command do the job? That is usually used for file sorts.
The SORT command displays messages to the job log as shown below.
Will this mess me up (add time and write too much stuff to the job log or constantly display annoying "released & returned" messages?
Is there a way to suppress these msgs? CHGJOB LOG(4 99 *NOLIST) STSMSG(*NONE) ??
Cant seem to stop them!
Should the old COBOL Sort command be used only for file sorts, and not for screens? Maybe there is too much startup overhead for this COBOL command with an internal array.
Or will it work just fine for internal small arrays?
When will COBOL add the SORTA command like RPG :)
Thanks
