Simple really...
1) Use an ASCII printer that supports PDF's directly
2) Use an *IPDS printer and Infoprint Server

(though if you're doing #2 with a recent enough printer #1 is probably
supported also.)

For option 1, check your printer specs and/or mfg website...

You could probably test it via the printer's web interface, most allow
a file to printer to be uploaded directly. Try it with a PDF.

That has been a curiosity of mine too. You can embed images in HTML or PDF stream files, for example. But how do you send an HTML file, or a PDF file, to a printer, without first opening it in a browser, or PDF reader?

Batch is the question. What if the user doesn't want the manual step of opening the stream file, and printing it? Just sending the stream file to the printer automatically. And keeping the processing on IBM i, rather than using a PC to print the file.
