What's missing, is that a person could - technically - occupy more than one board position, and perhaps neither of them is on the Management Committee. In practice, that multi-position condition doesn't often happen unless someone is on leave, but it does cast the obligatory monkey wrench.

If I followed this closely enough, and understand what you have, every employee is in a file, and has a 'pointer' to his or her boss. And now you need to point the UberBosses to a board member.
Could you just add the board members to the file, and point the UberBosses to them? And flag the 'my boss' field for the board members as *TOP or something like that?
You could then twist the 'BoardMembers' file around, and make it a logical over the employee file selecting only those entries with *TOP...
Or have I missed something important?
