So I take it instead of the result you'd see by

select type,count(*), sum(amt)
from ...
group by type

which would show you
'IN' 5 4.95
...

you want to see something like
IN CM PA DM
Year Count Amt Count Amt Count Amt Count Amt
2012 5 4.95 100 33.65 1 10.95 77 36.95

The first, as shown, is quite easy. The second will take more work. Am I
on the right track?
