The companies who have decided to quit paying for JDE support have typically
made the decision to move away from the AS/400 - iSeries - IBM i platform.
/Before/ dropping JDE support, they have already upgraded their hardware and
OS to current versions and have already received and loaded the necessary
base objects from Oracle which failed ANZOBJCVN.
They also have the JDE source code so that they can support it themselves or
engage third-party consultants to support it while they go through the
project to migrate to the new system.
I know of several companies which are following this strategy as they
convert to SAP.
One of them is currently paying Oracle over 1 million dollars per year for
support, so the cost savings are substantial, even after paying several
hundred thousand per year to the third-party support company.

How effective is 3rd party maintenance? For example, let's say JDE World
ran on V5R4 and didn't pass ANZOBJCVN. Now you want to migrate to 7.1.
Let's say there are some programs that no one gets source for, like
security, licensing and a choked through utility or two to double check
licensing. Are 3rd party maintenance companies allowed to give you these
new object? Another scenario. Let's say you finally decide to move to a
power 7 with a different serial number. Can these third party maintenance
companies give you new keys? Or are you now stuck either repurchasing the
software or catching up on all maintenance to JDE plus a penalty?
