Hi Rick,

Leif Svaalgard wrote a CHGMBR command back in 1999 using MI. It's included in this pdf, http://www.leif.org/as400/handout.pdf, along with a program to compile MI programs.

It's pretty old - a good test of iSeries backwards compatibility if you want to give it a try.
