Brad,
Do you really need to go over the 63/64 char limit? If so, I wonder if the
Java mail routines would work? Aaron Bartell has some Service Programs that
*maybe* could be of help. Search for Bartell and RPGMail

RFCs aren't "laws".. I've heard them called "strong suggestions". As
in "if we follow these, we'll all work together a lot better..."
Sounds great, right? In a perfect world, yes.
Now, what if certain parts of RFCs are only followed by IBM, and by no
one else... in that case maybe it means it's time the RFC needs to be
rewritten or updated.
I believe the limitation of 64 bytes was because that was the largest
a directory could be on some platform way back when. IE, the mailbox
is the directory which is the user portion of the email address.
But either way, it sure would be a heckuvalot nicer if along with
following the RFCs to a T, they would at least let us know the real
problem instead of a generic "input variable is incorrect"... :)
As far as the long email address, they are for a fax service... I'm
not going to defend or rant about why they are so long.. but they are.
I think most of us these days have been in this business long enough
to know to never say "that will never happen"....
