If you're just looking to write a message to the iSeries syslog server then I think our product might be overkill - but it'll do the job. It was designed to filter messages from QAUDJRN and message Q's and forward those to remote syslog or SIEM servers. It has an API for you to send your own messages. It's called SIFT-IT and you can download a free copy here: www.arpeggiosoftware.com.
