We have recently upgraded some of our i Personal Communications clients
from 5.7 (running on WinXP) to 5.9 (running on Win7). We have application
software on the i (V5R4) that runs OPNQRYF commands. As these commands
scroll through the records, they display "Query running......" messages in
the program status line showing the record counts rolling up. Under 5.7,
these rolled pretty quickly. With 5.9, they roll much slower. What used
to take a few seconds now takes several minutes. Users are not happy.
I could turn off all status messages at the user profile level. The
OPNQRYF runs as fast as it did before when I do this, but this seems like
overkill. And this does get to the root cause of the issue. Since this
is packaged software, I would rather not make a custom mod to do a
temporary job override to disable and re-enable the messages. I am not
finding a way to prevent OPNQRYF from sending the messages.
Anyone else experience this? I don't suppose these is a Personal Comm
parameter for this.
