RPG2SQL does support embedded SQL. Just not IBM's version :-)

Also, RPG2SQL doesn't require Java which is a huge plus when it comes to performance.

... looks like no JDBC Driver available for UniVision, only ODBC, so there is no chance to access UniVision from applications completely running on AS/400. So I see only two alternatives:
1) running the Java part of ArdGate on a Windows Box, using the ODBC driver and the ODBC to JDBC Bridge driver
2) using one of the ODBC based products like Centurio DB or RPG2SQL Integrator
first solution has the drawback of instabilities of the ODBC to JDBC Bridge driver, second solution can't use embedded SQL, interactive SQL and QMQRY, as they use a call level interface of their own.
