If you're on 6.1, you should be able to change your print file to generate
the PDF directly into an IFS file (.pdf)...

DEVTYPE *AFPDS
TOSTMF /Export
WSCST *PDF

This would create a system named pdf file in the /Export directory in the
IFS.

Then, a *STMF attachment to the email should suffice.

Subject: Email *USERASCII spool file as PDF attachment

All,
Is there any product for the i that will allow the email of a *USERASCII
spool file as a PDF file?
Since the *USERASCII spool file can not be viewed or copied, my current
email program is not able to do this.

Thanks,

Just to be clear, this is the CPYSPLF command that I have used successfully to convert a spoolfile into an IFS PDF that I have been able to email.

CPYSPLF FILE(SPOOLFILE)
TOFILE(*TOSTMF)
TOSTMF('/ifsdirectory/pdffilename.pdf')
WSCST(*PDF)

I am on 7.1 but I think this will work on 6.1.
