ASP size has increased to 90%. Is there any way to decrease ASP
size to 80 or 75.
I searched in google the information I found is delete old query
and old files which are not used for a long time.
I hate to tell you, but much like when a Windows disk is full, you're best
option is to delete what you don't need. You CAN add additional disks to
your iSeries, but that's not likely to be much help in the immediate
future.
If your stuck deleting objects to make room, you have to pick what to
hammer. This isn't a matter of making a wish and having a genie do it for
you, it's a matter of you determining what's best to delete.
The two you mentioned are reasonable options. You can also try:
1. WRKOBJ *ALL/*ALL *JRNRCV to see all journal receivers on the system.
You *might* find some old ones that can be deleted, but you'll have to
determine that.
2. WRKOBJ QSYS/QHST* *FILE to see a list of history files. If you never
look at these and don't need them for some type of regulatory compliance
they also might be good candidates to delete.
3. WRKOUTQ *ALL will show a list of all OUTQ's and spool files on the
system. If you can clear some OUTQs, great! But bear in mind that you
need to perform a RCLSPLSTG before you actually get that disk space back.
4. WRKF *ALL/*ALL SAVF will give you a list of all save files on the
system. Some of these *might* be left from old software installs and
backups. On the other hand, they might be needed to run your next end of
day process.
There are other steps that range from compressing programs to purging data
files to monitoring how much performance data the system is saving. Unless
you're willing use GO DISKTASKS, option 1 for Collect disk space
information you'll be shooting in the dark as to where the problem is.
Unless you have a sense for what's normal on your system you still won't
know what caused the problem: normal growth in database files, garbage
data, runaway processes, programmers making backup copies of large files,
etc.
