Did I ever say I didn't believe him ? Uh, No.
I said I wanted to know the information for the mythical device :-)
Canon does appear to have direct print, but not for TXT or PRN and PDF is extra $$$$.
It does seem to have voice command though. "Please print and assemble my documents automatically".
"Please make me some coffee."
"Could you clean my shoes too and write some code."
In any case, the number of devices that have print processors other than PCL or Postscript re pretty limited and are probably MFP devices.
Thanks for the link. Now the myth is partially fact :-)

Eric already said that his "workgroup printer/scanner/copier/document
server" supports direct printing of PDF, TIFF, JPG, TXT and PRN...
But if you don't want to believe him...how about Canon?

Direct Print Support
Standard: TIFF, JPEG, EPS***
Optional: PDF, XPS***

So which is it ? Dozens or a few types ? :-)
It's not rocket science, but you still haven't provided any device specifics.
I want to see the device I can simply send raw PDF, TIFF, JPG, TXT and PRN files to and have them magically render without a print driver as you are suggesting.
