You need a virtual SCSI connection from the partition owning the drive to the partition 'wanting' the drive. Then when it's varied off on the owning partition it can be varied ON on the client partition.

List,

A client of mine just got a new machine that their now infamous software
vendor ordered for them. It is divided into two partitions, and has one tape
drive.

I don't have access to it right now, but their vendor told them to just
configure a virtual tape drive and they could then toggle the tape between
the two partitions.

I told them that this wasn't the purpose of the virtual tape feature, but I
have never actually set up a box with this configuration. Google is showing
me stuff dated around 2005. Any pointers?

Thanks
