With GTTs [implicitly journaled to QSQTTJRN], for transactional support across temporary copies of data. Or isolation for only some data, for when a copy of the data is temporary; esp. when the design pre-isolation, was already using QTEMP. Otherwise mostly just for logging reasons, same as any other reasons for logging; e.g. review for how data got changed or was removed contrary to expectations. One such scenario is [in what I believe was another topic also started by you,] is to ensure the logging is available to a program\application that expects to obtain the transaction information from a journal receiver.
