The Navigator version can be any that is equal to or greater than the OS version. I routinely run V7 Navigator against versions as far back as V5R3 without a problem. A V5R2 client won't work (well anyway) with a V5R4 system. Moreover the methods IBM uses to create the connection changed so I'm not surprised your having difficulties, frankly I'm a bit amazed it worked at all.

So, you need to upgrade the Navigator to at least V5R4, and apply the service packs. If you have access, you might just as well go all the way to V7.

GM list:

This is the first time I see this error message from the installation of an SP.

Scenario:
>> iSeries Operating System level: V5R4M0
>> iSeries Navigator Version: V5R2M0
Goal: Apply SI37892 to my IBM Client Access for Windows in my laptop. This is based on this info:

http://www-03.ibm.com/systems/power/software/i/access/windows_sp.html

Problem:
When I tried to install the service pack, there is an error while comparing the 2 products. It states: "SP Version, Release and Modification level (VRM) must be the same as the installed product's VRM"

Now, the questions:

1) Should iSeries Navigator and iSeries OS version levels be the same? I thought that the iSeries Navigator was a stand-alone piece of software (like an add-in) similar in concept to the 5250 Emulation software, and that they might have a different version level if compared to the iSeries OS level.

2) Does the SI37892 has "everything" that iSeries Navigator needs that (a) I can uninstall the current iSeries Navigator version and install then SI37892 or you recommend instead to (b) upgrade iSeries Navigator to V5R4M0 first and then SI37892.

Sorry for the silly questions but maybe somebody went through this process already.

Regards and have an awesome and blessed day!
