That was an interesting thought Ken. I played around with it for about 3 minutes this morning but was unable to find a combination that worked. This is the command that got closest but still no joy:
TELNET RMTSYS('myhmc.myhmc.com') PORT(2300) KBDTYPE(USB) RMTKBDTYPE(*LCL)

It wasn't HMC access, but I did have some problems with telnet to
other i systems which I solved by explictly specifying KBDTYPE(USB) on
the TELNET command.
