OK, and did that hurt IBM? Would they have been substantially (or
even noticeably) better off by charging extra for it back then?

From what I've since read (again, I've never used it; I didn't know we
had it), the early versions were lacking, and just as enhancements
were making it more usable and more attractive, they stopped including
it.

I know that around that time, Eclipse was disastrously slow on my PC
(this I do know from personal experience); it's entirely possible
anything Eclipse-like, and certainly anything Eclipse-based, would not
have won me over then since SEU was at least lightning fast.

But to be fair, I'll concede I really didn't give it a serious look,
even after I found out about its existence. I don't have legitimate
grounds for complaint. However, I'm still of the opinion that there
are more positives than downsides for IBM by including RDp at no extra
cost.
