I usually don't participate in this kind of discussions because (at least
for me, who was raised in a a slightly different culture than most of the
participants in these lists (US, anglo, whatever)) they sometimes seem
to get a little out of hand, so I prefer (again, usually) to stick to
technical issues, which most of the time appear to be are more black and
white in their outcome.
That said, although I am somewhat of a grumpy old guy (54) and sometimes it
is a little difficult for me to go for the new name (IBM i has a strange
sound when spoken in Spanish, as opposed to i5, iSeries or even (gasp!!)
AS/400), I truly appreciate your efforts to promote the platform. I know
sometimes is difficult to overcome the resistance for change that seems to
afflict most people (and not only regarding name changes).
I really like the new logo, and it fact I believe it would be nice if IBM
had the initiative to market it a little more (just think, for example, if
IBM had a small basket with a lot of decals in every stand or event they
attend to).
So, keep up the good work and, again, congratulations for trying to promote
the platform.
Best Regards,
Luis Rodriguez
