I like the suggestions of
- multistringing it by library
- using journalling.

One person mentioned the QUSLOBJ api. There's also an open list of
objects api. What's the difference? Think the difference between a "load
all" subfile and a "page at a time" subfile. The latter allows you to
start processing the list while the list is still being generated.
