I have been able to get back to square one with a couple of alternative
ways. One way was to dump the dspptf to an outfile and spend some time
looking for not founds etc.

The other approach is to do a wrkptfgrp, see what is not installed. Then
look at the special handling ptf's to see what is gong on.

to do than put 6 years of PTFs in at once. Of course, I still had to put
the latest Cumulative and Groups on afterwards, but I think it was faster,
so you have an excellent idea.
