Gee, whenever I strongly encourage people to get their existing machine to
the current release before upgrading hardware I always get told that it's
a no brainer to do the upgrade without doing so and get shouted down.

That being true, I still recommend upgrading releases as soon as you can.
Ok, if you just have to wait for the first GA cume, do so. Having to test
OS, and Hardware, issues at the same time increases complexity and can
significantly increase the length of outage.
