read up on SET OPTION.

perhaps
exec sql SET OPTION CLOSQLCSR = *ENDMOD;

will solve the problem.

Anyone ever see an RPGLE program with lots of embedded SQL that somehow
manages to lock records of logicals never referenced in the logic? By
'never referenced' I mean that no inserts/updates/deletes are included for
the physical file involved, or any of its logicals.

No commitment control, no updates, but still locks records. How? Why?
