the color fidelity on overlays is, if anything, a bit worse than
that of the Gumbo product.
James,
And I gather from your original post that you weren't happy with the color fidelity of overlays with Gumbo SpoolMail to begin with.
We've deployed more than 500 interactive applications and more than 125 reports by using HTML templates and CSS which have remarkably consistent rendering within browsers, email messages, and PDF documents, using a wide variety of colors, fonts, images, and visual effects.
In past years I created overlays using an ACOM product, but that really seems primitive now in comparison to HTML/CSS WYSIWYG editors. We use Dreamweaver to layout reports. We use an RPG template API to generate HTML stream files. We use an RPG wrapper around PD4ML or Flying Saucer to convert the stream files to PDF. We use the SendMail API within Net.Data for email.
I didn't respond earlier because we are not a programming tool vendor. Most ML subscribers seem to have an aversion to commercial tool offerings besides. But, FYI, HTML and CSS render faithfully in PDF format.
