Slow IPL wont help.
Have they checked the configuration on the HMC?, hardware gets detected
mostly on service proc IPL, the first part before partition startup. I
would bet that the profile got modified. A/B and D modes boot from diferent
controllers, on the profile config.

best regards,

Is the system HMC managed? if so, load source is defined on the partition

Yes, I is a 9406-550.

IBM is replacing the RAID controller, again, to see if that helps. They
are also booting from CD and manual mode to see if they can see the drives.

It seems like its acting weird. This is a RAID-5 system, so for me to
loose the load source, I'd need two drives failed, right?

Pete's Response:
Do you have a new IOP/IOA that could be 'interfering' with the
original load source IOA?
You didn't say if this machine is HMC managed (so you have the LS
IOA Tagged) or is this a standalone and you have the IOA for >>the LS in
the CEC.

New IOP/IOA : They did put two new ones in. that's kinda where I was
going with the slow IPL. Isn't that for just this situation where things
aren't reporting or you thing the hipervisor has things a bit buggered up.
I've suggested it two now, to both teams (the over night guy rolled off),
and it seems like they either don't ever do it or know something that they
are not telling me as to why it would be a waste of time.

They reported after replacing the Raid adapter, it got a little father but
still stopped. They said it initially looked like it didn't know the path
to the hardware. - Again, thinking slow IPL.
