All the scanners we use emit ASCII. Which works fine since all the PCs
the scanners attach to are ASCII. The scanners we use emulate a PC
keyboard. From the PCs perspective, someone typed those characters in.
So if you have Notepad running, the characters get typed into Notepad.
If you have tn5250 running, those characters get typed into whatever
screen is currently being displayed.
