Hi Joel

QM queries can be a very nice way to do this. When you run a query there, you can set the output to an *OUTFILE, and the outfile can be the one you are querying.

Actually you can use the DOCSQL command in RJSIMAGE -

DOCSQL 'select distinct * from yourlib/yourfile order by somekey' output(*outfile) outfile(yourlib/yourfile)

That's it - of course, you might want to do this to a non-production location, right? Or maybe not!

This is a VERY SCARY feature of query management queries - there is no warning message that you are doing a replacement in place of the entire contents of the file.

So be ver-r-r-ry careful!

:)

For testing, what is a simple and quick method of sort & data reduction by removing dup records?

I thought of TAATOOLS SORTDB but there is no data reduction option.

Is SQL distinct going to be the ticket?

Thanks!
