No to mention that the HMC v7.7 still says "os/400 partitions" on some
parts, like for example when you do a vtmenu to access aix/vios consoles...
If IBM cant keep it straight, how can we keep it?

PS: I use the correct name for each system, in fact i've used the
difference between as400 and iseries to explain why one requires an adapter
card on the ups and the other an adapter cable for any standard ups...

I always try to call our system what it is, a Power 7 running IBM i 7.1.
However, the Cumulative PTF DVD we just got from IBM says this:
System i5
OS/400 Cumulative PTFs
V7R1M0...

Made me chuckle.

If you never started calling the System38 an AS400 you would not be able
to Google AS400 and find much either.

AS400 is also the only way you can legitimately search for anything in
google. It may be last century, but still the only way to "attempt" to
find anything meaningful on a search engine. The marketing guy was
obviously oblivious to search engines when he/she decided to call it "IBM
i".

Four letters, not that hard to memorize: IBM i. AS/400 is so last century.

Besides just like GM, IBM hasn't changed their name. GM Changes names too.
The first truck I drove from them was a 'Custom 20' or C20 now they have
Colorado, Avalanche, Silverado. And nobody whines....

Why? Why does someone need to spend hours memorizing

If GM can keep the Chevrolet nameplate for 80+ years
without it being
stale then it'd seem a no-brainer for IBM to keep the
AS400 badge alive.
