Thanks for the explanation, Rob. I see what you mean.

One, SF97710 is a cover letter only. It lists what PTF's are on the latest cume. Therefore it will not appear on SF98035.

SF97710 does not list any group ptf numbers. If you search that link for
SF99 you will not see any group PTF's listed. What you will see are individual ptf's that are listed that may or may not be on a particular group. I did a little spot checking and the PTF's listed on the other link, that are in TR6, are listed in this cume.

What is not up to date is the documentation on the latter link. It was last updated in February, which was before the cume came out. Let me give you some details.
If I look at
http://www-912.ibm.com/s_dir/sline003.NSF/554c38c4848b77f2862567bd0046e003/85fc5e8ebc0523048625779900742abc?OpenDocument
you will see
-------------------------------------------------
PTF DATE APAR LICENSED CUMULATIVE
NUMBER ADDED PROGRAM PACKAGE
*************************************************
MF55886 02/12/13 MA42205 5770999 1000
...

cume package 1000 implies that MF55886 is on TR6 but is not on a cume.
However, if we look at the cume cover letter at http://www-912.ibm.com/s_dir/sline003.nsf/2d3aff1c6b4d6ce086256453000d971e/d37adbbbf29e07eb8625770a005b18b3?OpenDocument
and search that for MF55886 you will see that MF55886 came out in cume
3037
MF55886 3037 11/01/12 LIC-MEDIA-TAPE Add support for 3580-006

So if IBM would update the cover letter for SF99006 then this
MF55886 02/12/13 MA42205 5770999 1000
would become
MF55886 02/12/13 MA42205 5770999 3037

Understand?

Hi Rob,

Ok, what you're saying is that since SF98035 includes SF97710 that it
includes a TR? Although when I search on the SF97710 link you gave, I
don't find SF99707. And you're saying that the online documentation
simply isn't up to date and it does include TR6?

I forwarded along Jim's email (thanks, Jim) to my manager.

Rob, you made a comment in a different thread about sadistic
administrators. If only we had an administrator!

In regard to the cores, we don't run any LPARs. With a quick Google
search I think I see what you're talking about in regard to assigning
hardware resources to LPARs so they can run fairly independently.

Bad drugs. The current cume does include TR6
http://www-912.ibm.com/s_dir/sline003.nsf/2d3aff1c6b4d6ce086256453000d971e/d37adbbbf29e07eb8625770a005b18b3?OpenDocument

Search for the PTF's listed at
http://www-912.ibm.com/s_dir/sline003.NSF/554c38c4848b77f2862567bd0046e003/85fc5e8ebc0523048625779900742abc?OpenDocument

The latter document says that it's ptfs are not on a cume. It lies. It
hasn't been updated since, well, Last Updated: 2/12/13 The cume's come
out since then. If you notice any ptfs that are in the latter that are
not on the cume let us know.

So we've been really bad about PTFs. Our IBM BP is asking that we apply
PTFs because after getting an additional core activated (from 1 to 2)
we've noticed 0 improvement on the system.
So we finally ordered a cumulative PTF and we're looking at applying it.
But then I thought, "What about technology refreshes?" It doesn't appear
that the cume comes with a TR on it. Cume: C3037710
http://www-912.ibm.com/systems/electronic/support/s_dir/sline003.nsf/PSP%20Number%20View/SF98035

Are we safe to apply the Cume w/o a TR and then later investigate applying

a Technology Refresh?
