You may be right with:

And when we put on a newer version of our vendor's ERP software we put
everyone though generic ERP training and then software specific training.
However, they may be using an ancient version of their vendor's ERP
software that's been heavily customized (poorly) and therefore it really
may be buggy.
Summary, it's kind of a shoot from the hip answer.
