There's a lot to be said for making all the changes at once.

But I'm happy to know I can increase the length and it won't take effect until the next password change. Obviously not for expiration dates.

I also did not realize this:
Most of the QPWD* system values are deprecated in favor of system value
QPWDRULES. As part of QPWDRULES see *DGTMINn. If you want to require at
least one digit use *DGTMIN1. See also: *REQANY3, *SPCCHRMINn
If you're stuck on some expired version of the OS then use this as another
excuse to upgrade. Failing that you can roll your own with QPWDVLDPGM.


I will look into QPWDRULES. We are v7r1, so we don't have any excuses.

Also, just hearing that there are things that sync windows and ibm passwords like tivoli identity manager is encouraging. Probably too expensive for our little shop, but good to know such things are out there.
