In order to get to the P05 with a limited number of users you'll configure a 4way 720. Don't cheap out on memory. All the stuff you say it runs us memory more than before. I highly recommend you spring for the bigger disk controller so you can have 8 drives and RAID.

There is no MES upgrade from the 520, but you can move the software assuming they still have it under maintenance. That will save some money.

Jack,

I'm not sure if still available, but there was a 520 MES upgrade option to a 720, instead of buying a new system.
When doing a MES upgrade, you keep your same serial number, reducing both hardware and software upgrade costs.

So I can see upgrading that system to 7.1 and then moving to the new hardware.

In the old days, you could order a new system with new software using your license and since it's only a few users and printers I would move the software and users to the new system.

Where can I buy a new system lol?

The 520's can run 7.1 and it is much easier to move to a new system on the same OS. The new 720 will run 6.1 and 7.1

Yes you can purchase a new system and software. Since it is such a small shop it may not be difficult to recreate the users and security and It could be a good time to tighten security. Make sure you get quotes for upgrading the 3rd party software.

I have a customer that has a 520. The owner of the company likes to buy a new system every 5 or so years. They are a little late but they came to me to get them quotes.

I don't even know where to start. It's a small company with 10 green
screen users so I'm sure the lowest capacity new system would be plenty.
They run a LANSA website, some EDI, and Townsends secure FTP product.

I asked another customers vendor and he said "just upgrade that system to 7.1".

Is it not possible to buy a new system and upgrade the software anymore J
