This could be just what you need - I got a look at one of Giovanni's pages
when replying earlier today on this stuff - there's a way to use an LDAP
server for authentication, and you can say which attribute to use - such as
email address.
That's my VERRRRRY brief and short memory relating what I saw on the way
out the door!
HTH
And let us know what you see.

I suppose if they are talking Web, they could log in with anything
through the use of an access control list. I've not used them and
yourremember how or if you get to any object-level security that way.

Log on to what? 5250? ftp?
If it's for ftp then you can use an exit point and log on however
managementmovelittle pea picking heart desires. I wrote my own but we decided to
bitto a commercial product. We now use GoAnywhere to serve FTP. I havesome
outside people who log in using their email address.
5250 is a bit trickier. Normally what you do then requires some
implementation of EIM or SSO. Then you set up their IBM i account a
different. Read the help for chgusrprf for "Local password
listlist(LCLPWDMGT)"
