RE: AFP/IPDS laser printers

I will need to back and revisit this. We do this now for when we send POs via email as PDF. Used Word to create the form, print via the AFP drive from IBM, upload and create the overlay. (and then the test, back to word for changes, loop through again, do that a dozen times) But I was sure in order to get the overlays to work we had to define the print file as *AFPDS. These are the options on the CRTPRTF we had to use
DEVTYPE(*AFPDS)
OVRFLW(66)
OUTQ(QPRINT)
PAGESIZE(66 86)

In order to get it to compile with this

R FRONTPDF OVERLAY(OVERLAYS/POFRONT 0.0 0.0)

R BACKPDF OVERLAY(OVERLAYS/POBACK 0.0 0.0)

Fairly easy "not" using a IPDS printer.

After installing AFP print driver on your PC.
Install 5770TS1 on your machine.

1. Create Overlay using Draw.(Open Office) 2. Print Overlay using AFP printer from above
That will create a file that needs to be converted.
3. Using Navigator open AFP Manager
4. Open import overlay using the file created in step 2.
5. You now have a overlay on the machine ready to be used
with your print program.
6. You can go directly to a PDF using ovrprtf.

I prefer Lexmark printers and there are many that will meet your needs.

It sounds more complicated than it really is.
