Sadly I am not but if you do find out I would also be quite interested.

My guesses are two: 1) IBM won't be a good source for any of this information for a variety of reasons. 2) It will turn out that these things are not very powerful but highly optimized for the task they do. IBM had 'a number' of years to do that. :-)

They are actually complete little PowerPC computers with flash, SDRAM, and
some kind of PCI interface.

From a quick peek at the code, it doesn't appear that the chip is one of
the various PowerPC-to-PCI bridge chips that documentation is readily
available for.
