Are you able to access any other devices on the remote network through your VPN connection, i.e.;desktop, internal websites, etc?
If not, it could be a matter of the device handling the VPN connections not being configured correctly for NAT

Paul,
If your VPN never resolves the DNS correctly then get a different VPN.
If ipconfig /flushdns doesn't work then try going into Services and
stop/start the DNS client.
