My first question would be why re-load Vista anywhere :-)
Windows 7 or 8 would work much better.
My suggestion would be get rid of Vista and then reload iSeries access.

subject: iSeries Access on MS Vista
I just had a PC here that had to be reloaded from scratch and it was set
up with MS Vista OS. I'm trying to get iSeries Access for Windows loaded
and working to access a V5R4 system. I can get the software to load, but
when I try to connect, no options are displayed and starting an emulation
session fails. I suspect that I need a service pack (I'm installing from
the software CD that came from IBM with the system).
Any suggestions on where to look for this one?
