Zoned is basically character (unless the number is negative), so there's no special formatting for numeric fields needed. If the data queue entry is coming from a non IBM i platform, all you have to do is make sure the entry is converted to EBCDIC.

If you send the data as packed or integer, your conversion routines will have to be aware of the data type and make sure it doesn't try to convert the numeric field from to EBCDIC.
