There's a host of questions to ask here so I'll just touch on a few of them:
1) Work Management still matters!! A Power7+ can run every bit as slow as a
Power4 if you tune it right, (or better put, fail to tune it), WRKSYSSTS
for 5 -7 minutes and see what the faults/pages are.
2) Are the indexes on the files all still there?
3) Do a 5 minute observation on the disk activity. What are the disk busy
percentages?
Those are the basics that most of us that do this for a living would look at
first.

Subject: Power7 tuning or analyzer
We have moved from a iSeries 520 to an LPar'd Power 7 E4C EPC5
It seems that this machine is slower than the machine we came from. We were
using 2 - 520's (one for Test and one for Production). Now the Power7 is
used for both machine or systems. Are there navigation tools that we can
use to see where the hang up is? Our IT department says everything is set
correctly. We have a DR machine that is replicating both of these systems
all day. The memory allocation is setup differently than the 520 was and
our IT department says that it does not matter on the new Power7. On the
old 520 we use to have pools for a couple of batch and now we only have
*Machine, *Base, *Interact and *Spool. *Machine is FIXED and the others
are *CALC on both systems.
Any help anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.
