We have been running this way since December 2013. Have had a few problems but then again too few to mention. (are you singing frank sinatra now?)

Run your takedown CL. Submit your save21 cl to qctl as last step. Set the batch time limit on the endsbs *all to be long enough to cover your backup window but not so long that you start to wonder why the system didn't come back up.
